Ironwood, MI (NNCNOW.com) – Road Crews in Gogebic County had their hands full as they worked to repair a gigantic sink hole.

The sinkhole developed along County Road 505 around noon Tuesday.

Gogebic County Road Commission Engineer, Darren Pionk, said it was a close call for one car that drove over the area just as the 20 foot hole opened up.

Crews worked quickly to temporarily patch the road. They’re planning a more permanent fix in the near future.

Pionk points to the recent snow melt and additional rain as the cause.
