Sinkhole opens in Morgantown

According to the Morgantown Utility Board, a sinkhole has opened up on Spruce Street in Morgantown.

The sinkhole is in the center lane near where the street intersects with Forrest Avenue. The far left lane is closed to allow for repairs.

A MUB spokesperson says it appears the sinkhole occurred after gravel from a newly installed manhole washed into a MUB storm line, collapsing the road.

The spokesperson says repair work is finished on MUB’s end, but more work is being done by other crews.
